The last few weekends have been pretty busy...

July 25th [livejournal.com profile] luvcherbear and i went to the Midsummer Magick Faire, a renn faire put on by the awesome Jeff Mach, of Wicked Faire fame. It was wonderful... smallish renn faire in a beautiful, wooded area. We met up with [livejournal.com profile] faerygurl and her husband. The band he's in, Terra Serpentis, was performing there and we got to meet the other members and they're an amazingly wonderful bunch of people. We had gotten rooms in the same hotel, and since our room had a couch, chairs and coffee table instead of a second bed, everyone ended up partying there that night. Great time :)

On the way back the next day we stopped off to visit [livejournal.com profile] bunnyjadwiga, [livejournal.com profile] juergen and [livejournal.com profile] maziemaus (and, of couse, little Beekman). We went out to lunch and had a variety of crêpes. Apparently they can be savoury as well as sweet. Very nommy :) There was much cuddling and hugging afterward and then we had to be off home.

The following weekend we met up with [livejournal.com profile] neko_no_kioku at a dog park i never new existed at the back of Monocacy Creek park in Bethlehem and played with her puppies. After that we took the dogs home and then went swimming at a local pool. Nice, little pool, not at all crowded. It was a very relaxing weekend.

This weekend has been fantastic. It started on Friday, when [livejournal.com profile] luvcherbear and i had planned on going to see Tempest in New Hope. The concert was supposed to start at 8:30, earlier than i had realised when buying tickets, so we both took the afternoon off to get there in time. We met up with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] chibimonnie at her place, along with [livejournal.com profile] neko_no_kioku. We all spent an amazing evening in New Hope. We lucked out with finding cheap parking, right next to an ATM, too. Main street was awfully crowded and i was a little worried about finding a quiet place for dinner, but we found a really nice place up a side street. It looked like we were the first ones there and we got the best table in the place, overlooking a creek. Amazing food (too much of it!). It had been my idea to get dinner before the concert, so i insisted on paying. [livejournal.com profile] neko_no_kioku objected, but had to let me after she discovered she had lost her wallet. The brief panic was soon alleviated when we went back to the store 2 minutes' walk away where she had bought a cute dress earlier and they had found it.

Some more walking around in New Hope (where i hadn't been in years), and we found on a poster at the bar that the band wouldn't be on till 9:30. I had checked out Tempest's web site before leaving and saw 9, so i figured the doors would open at the 8:30 time on the tickets. Now it looked like doors opened at 9. We ended up back there shortly after then, just before a long line formed behind us. Again we lucked out, as by the time we got inside, we snagged the last empty table in the place. And it was right underneath the air conditioner :)

The concert was awesome! My first time seeing Tempest live. Weird venue, though. When checking their website i noticed they had played at Musikfest the day before (i managed to avoid the whole of Musikfest and its crowds this year!) and they mentioned they had played for something like a thousand people. There were maybe a hundred in this tiny place, giving it a much more intimate feel. It had very low ceilings, too. That, a raised stage, and the pretty tall members of Tempest made for some interesting moments :) The bassist measured the ceiling to be a handwidth above his head, but that didn't stop him from jumping wildly during one song (he was bent over, but his hair still brushed the ceiling). The violinist kept hitting the ceiling with his bow during the more enthusiastic parts, and even dropped it once. The lead singer bumped his head on a beam (padded, obviously because of previous such occurrences) while leaving the stage before their encore. But their performance was amazing... They raised so much energy i could feel the air vibrating after they finished! I rode that high all the way back home :)

Yesterday was swimming again, at the same pool, with [livejournal.com profile] luvcherbear and [livejournal.com profile] faerygurl. Last weekend that pool is open, too. It was practically deserted, probably due to the slightly cooler weather and everyone being at Musikfest's closing weekend. Then back to our place, where [livejournal.com profile] neko_no_kioku and the puppies joined us and we played games well into the evening. Chilling today, watching movies. And i have the next week off work (not voluntarily) and [livejournal.com profile] luvcherbear has most of it off, so there will likely be a lot more relaxing in the near future :)
