No, not the fireworks you're probably thinking of today, this big one. I can't help wondering what they were thinking at NASA when they conceived of this. I'm picturing a few guys in a room, late at night, after smoking something illicit....

Dude 1: So... what are we gonna shoot into space next? And where are we gonna send it?

Dude 2: Dunno... Everyone's done Mars, though... we need a new target.

Dude 3: Hey, Dude 2, wouldn't it be cool if, like, we bombed an asteroid or something?

Dude 2: Yeah, heh heh... but wait, to make it even cooler, let's try and hit something weird... like a comet!

Dude 1: Yeah man, let's bomb a frelling comet! Heh heh... Quit bogarting that, man, hand it over.
