Another round of weekend updates

Figure i'll write down stuff from the past several weekends before i start forgetting them :) Why only weekends? That's when i have a life...
Let's see... Harvest Moon. Wonderfully apple-filled weekend!
luvcherbear and i went to visit
bunnyjadwiga,
juergen,
maziemaus, miss B and Beekman on Saturday. There was a trip to an odd grocery store and a quick Target run for socks for Beekman. Then much nommy food, including apples, mulled cider (with rum!) and an apple crisp
luvcherbear made. We ate outdoors after a brief drizzle cleared and did a Full Moon ritual. Later on we sat on the lawn watching a cloud bank trying to swallow the Moon. Each time it got close, the edge of the cloud bank would send forth a small herd of clouds that dissipated before they quite got to their target. One particularly persistent cloudlet passed immediately overhead and misted on us as we watched it :) We stayed over and stumbled home for a day of vegging on Sunday.
Next weekend was my birthday :)
faerygurl came to visit and we went to a vineyard i don't remember the name of just outside of Bath. We sampled some wine (quite a bit) and bought a few bottles and some cheeses. Then on to a farm up the road... The idea was to do a corn maze, but we were briefly distracted by kid goats (awwwww!). Short hayride to the maze and then we proceeded to get lost for an hour.
luvcherbear mentioned she was glad the wine tasting had been first :) There were supposedly 8 questions scattered throughout the maze to answer. You were supposed to submit your answer sheet for a prize drawing at the end... We only found 4, but i used the back of the answer sheet to draw a map as we went, which helped us find our way around. At the exit, one of the maze guides was fairly impressed with how accurate it was...
Another hayride back to where we'd parked and then a stop off at Wegmans for pastries and assorted beer. I did the proverbial kid in a candy store thing... single (big) bottles and six-packs of all kinds of interesting beer! Dinner was a decadent mix of cheeses (including some yummy brie from the odd grocery store the weekend before), pastries, wine and beer :) Then on Sunday
luvcherbear took me out to brunch for my birthday at Porter's Pub... always a favourite!
We had planned on going to the PA Ren Faire the following weekend, so got up early on Saturday. It was chilly and wet, but we were prepared for that. The plan was to stay overnight at a nearby hotel to avoid a long drive home afterwards. We got the car all packed up, tickets and directions ready... then we started to hear rumors that they might be closed. It had snowed a few days earlier, but it really wasn't that cold out. And the rain last year was a lot worse and they didn't close then. And the hotel's cancellation policy required 24 hours' notice. So we decided to risk it. We got in the car and just as i was putting the key in the ignition i got two emails (luuurv my Blackberry!) at almost the same time: the Faire was definitely closed due to "inclement weather".
Back to the house... I called the hotel to see if there was any way to cancel without being charged for the room. They had no problem canceling but there was still a room fee... Then i heard someone in the background say something and a moment later the receptionist asked if I had been planning on coming down for the Faire. I said yes, and she told me they would waive the fee as a one-time courtesy because of the closing! So we unpacked the car, went out to lunch and spent the rest of the weekend working on a backlog of Netflix movies. Oh, and the kicker: by mid-afternoon the Sun had come out and it was actually pretty warm.
Last weekend we did finally get to the Faire. We got a case(!) of mead which should hopefully last until next Faire season :)
luvcherbear's cousin joined us and we hung out doing Faire-like things and caught a couple of shows. When it started getting a bit damp we figured it was time to leave. We turned out to have pretty good timing... The dampness changed to rain while we were getting our wine and beer at the pick-up area. Then while we were driving it turned into a torrential down pour, to the point i could barely see in front of me on the highway!
Some friends were having a party that night, not quite on the way home, but certainly closer, so we had gotten a hotel room near there. We managed to shower and dry off in time for the party... it was an Adults Only party. There was someone selling sex toys (who left after the short demo), silly games, and MST3k commentary through a very cheesy porn movie :) All-in-all we had a great time with wonderful people!
This weekend promises more fun... trick-or-treaters, it's Samhain, we're possibly meeting up with
paquerette on Sunday... and i have a date! *squee* :)
Kisses and Hugs to my loved ones!
